Ronnie Romero
Too Many Lies, Too Many Masters
2023 – Frontiers Records
Ronnie Romero is one of the most hard-working musicians. He has been involved in many projects all over the years. His voice is always so emotional, so metallic, so magical. He is one of a kind and remember these words when he will be the number one singer in the world.
The album is starting with the “Castaway On The Moon” song. Power metal tunes reach you and make your emotions burst. The rhythm is quick but steady. The voice of course is perfect, and the riffs are exceptional. “Mountain Of Light” is more earthly and heavy melodic, with tunes that easily stick to your mind. Check the riffs in the middle. They are so powerful and they give such a colorful image.
Strong, aggressive melodies are coming with the “I’ve Been Losing You” song. Emotions fill the room. Romero’s voice is full of rock ballad feelings. Romantic, emotional and timeless.
“Too Many Lies, Too Many Masters” the next song and this is my favorite by far. Metal to the bone, with Ronnie at his best – best ever metal voice, I might add – with a voice capable of filling an entire room. Powerful, heavy and so tough. He reminds me a lot of Ronnie James Dio. He has that kind of classic metal power voice, that you will always remember. His tone of voice is the tone that any metal fan loves to hear.
Do you wanna dance? I have a catchy headbanging heavy song for you. “Girl, Don’t Listen To The Radio”, and don’t mind if I do listen, if that song comes along via some radio station. I can’t resist the rhythm. For some reason I loved “Crossroad”. It has a classical heavy Whitesnake groove, an air of new but well-known melody. The vocals are remarkable and full of power.
“Not Just A Nightmare” is amazing! I loved the lyrics, the music that grabs you from the first note and the vocals that are so passionate. The eighth song of the album is “A Distant Shore”, a rock thunder that gives another perspective of what Romero and the band could do. It’s great, but I strongly believe that if he stuck to metal he could be the next Dio. If “Chased By Shadows” isn’t a classic, then I don’t know what is. If you have any doubt about the next Dio, well, you can listen to the song carefully. That is what makes Romero so unique. His charisma to sing metal with so much passion and giving color and images to the listener, with his voice.
Last song for the album is “Vengeance”. The best way to close a perfect music experience. Gives you hope and expectations for the next album. One of the most well-structured albums of the year. An album we loved and we will be thrilled to listen to it live at some point. Who knows? Maybe our prayers will be heard.
